Despite the plain looking exterior, the Beogram 1500 is very lavishly built. The circuitry, similar to that of Beomaster 900, is based around 3 plug in cards, similar to those found in B&O tape recorders of the period. One is a voltage regulator, providing -32V and -16V, whilst the other two are the left and right channel amplifiers. There are also separate assemblies holding the output transistors, reservoir capacitors, controls and equalising networks. This complex but beautifully constructed assembly fills the cabinet, which is surprisingly heavy. Text copyright © Beocentral. Unauthorised reproduction prohibited.

Pickups tend to be SP 6 or SP 7 types, and suitable loudspeaker models follow Beomaster 900 practice, and in particular the addition of Beovox 600 makes this a compact and high quality record player. The Beocord 1500, which requires an external amplifier, is an ideal addition, and then can be used to record from records or a radio (if connected), and to replay through the loudspeakers connected to the Beogram. Connecting a Beolit to the radio socket gives the radio a far “bigger” sound, and reduces the drain on the batteries. Text copyright © Beocentral. Unauthorised reproduction prohibited.
