Beolab 2500
(1991-2004) Active loudspeaker, Powerlink
Type numbers: 6201, 6202, 6203, 6204, 6205

A special active loudspeaker for use with the Beocenter 2500 and 2300. These were amongst the first models to be genuinely “active”, with separate treble and bass amplifiers and an electronic crossover filter with “adaptive bass linearisation”, a sort of loudness circuit that was optimised to the characteristics of the loudspeaker and cabinet that could not be switched off. The two loudspeakers were completely separate units and could be positioned freely, but in practice the styling dictated that they were almost always fitted to a mounting bracket and attached to the Beocenter 2500 or 2300. The Lycra loudspeaker frets were made to be easily detachable and were available in a variety of colours, though extra ones were expensive. Text copyright © Beocentral.
